How does it work?

Myotherapy is founded on the western medical knowledge of anatomy & physiology, biomechanics & kinesiology, manual therapies, and the pathology of soft tissues.  Myotherapy works on a number of methods:
Improving local blood flow to damaged tissues allowing them to heal, and removes toxins to reduce pain.
Releases tension from shortened muscles and tendons which decreases pain and improves function by ensuring that muscles contract correctly to stabilise joints and provide maximum strength.
Realigning joints ensures that full range is provided to the limb and decreases the risk of further injury.

Treatment Methods

These are a variety of techniques that may be used in your consultations:
Myofascial Manipulation/Massage:
The cornerstone of what makes Myotherapy so effective; is a variety of compression and manipulation techniques performed manually to soft tissues, in order to realign, release tension, and improve function of muscle fibres
Joint Mobilisation:
A series of techniques, that involves performing oscillations and movements between two bones (a joint) to improve circulation, improved alignment and mobility
Myofascial Dry-Needling:
involves the insertion of super fine needles into your tissues to release contractions within muscles (trigger points), improve blood flow for healing and block pain signals to your brain.
T.E.N.S :
(Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) Small electrical pulses directed to your muscles designed to improve muscle strength, inhibit pain perception and improve blood flow.
Corrective Exercise:
Programs prescribed specifically for your condition, involving stretches and exercises to improve flexibility and strength to prevent injury.
M.E.T:
(Muscle energy techniques) A form of gentle stretching and muscle manipulation, which improves flexibility and decreases muscle contractions.
Taping/supportive aids:
A variety of synthetic products designed to support joints and tissues during the rehabilitative process.
Cupping:
Small cups that are vacuum-sealed to the skin, designed to improve blood flow to  tissues.
Thermal Therapy:
Thermal Therapy: Heat and cold applications designed to release muscle tension, improve blood flow and control inflammation.
